Techical Writer
Job Description
- Developing, drafting, editing, and formatting PTASPs and other safety documentation in compliance with FTA and USDOT regulations.
- Combining and harmonizing multiple document sources into unified, consistent formats.
- Supporting the development of safety audit documents, inspection checklists, and compliance forms.
- Maintaining high standards of document integrity, version control, and professional formatting.
- Collaborating with internal departments to manage multiple concurrent safety projects and deliverables.
- Ensuring adherence to all Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles and regulatory documentation standards.
- Demonstrated experience developing and editing USDOT FTA Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASPs) — this is a mandatory requirement.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation safety and regulatory documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
- Experience in document formatting, version control, and change tracking.
- Proven ability to synthesize multiple document sources into standardized, compliant materials.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Background in transportation safety, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
- Experience with safety audit tools, inspection forms, and compliance checklists.
- Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles and documentation standards.

I worked with another regional staffing firm until I joined Lloyd in 2006 and have been happily employed here ever since. I try to get to know my contract associates so that I can keep them as busy as they want to be when it comes to short or long-term employment. I’m a good example of using the pandemic to pursue a dream and recently relocated to my favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, SC as my new home.
