Payroll Manager
Job Description
Family owned and operated Long Island, New York based construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team.
Key Functions
• Analyze, prepare, and input data to process in-house weekly union and non-union payroll for 300+ employees
• Process time entry which includes checking accuracy of payrolls
• Input timesheets
• Address payroll queries from managers and employees
• Enter and update union benefit information for new and existing employees
• Verify weekend time coding, dependent upon union rules
• Confirm accuracy of input data for Labor (Union, Class, ST vs. OT, Hours etc.)
• Assure accurate and timely running of union payroll
• Evaluate for state tax compliance
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports via ADP
Desired Qualifications
• 3+ Years experience working in payroll (Construction and Union experience preferred)
• Highly organized
• Ability to identify problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes recommendations
• MUST have in-house experience processing union payroll
• Knowledge of State and Federal wage, tax laws and overtime requirements
• Extensive computer experience is necessary.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
• Effective communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, strong work ethic
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or a related field preferred
