PET/CT Technologist

Job Description
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Chief Radiation Therapist, and within established company departmental policies and procedures, the PET/CT Technologist confirms patient identity, records patient history, unusual conditions/limitations, and other pertinent information to review with radiologist to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are prescribed for highest quality CT exams. The person in this role will prepare patient, positions and perform CT scan procedures according to the centers procedure manual.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer dosages of radiopharmaceuticals in preparation for diagnostic, therapeutic, and research procedures.
- Inform patients and family members about the procedure and answers questions.
- Performs quality control procedures.
- Trains new personnel and students on the proper performance of PET CT studies
- Properly disposes of radioactive materials
- Monitor personnel, work areas and patient areas to ensure that the levels of radioactive materials are in accordance with regulations.
- Decontaminate work areas and patient areas.
- Work alongside Radiation Therapists to assist in making immobilizations devices as part of the CT-Simulation procedure.
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Education:
- Must be a graduate of a JCERT accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a suitable equivalent.
- BS Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related health science field, preferred.
License and Certification:
- Must be certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine Technology with Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board with Computed Tomography (NMTCB-CT)
- Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist
- IV injection certification
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support/ CPR
Experience:
- Two or more years of clinical experience preferred.
