Job Description
Payroll Specialist (Temporary – LOA Coverage)
Location: On-site in Garden City
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM
Duration: Temporary Assignment covering Leave of Absence (LOA)
Compensation: $27-30/hr.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support the day-to-day checks and balances of payroll operations during a leave coverage period.
This role is fully on-site and will play a critical part in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing for employees.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Execute end-to-end payroll processing with a strong focus on accuracy and internal controls
Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and validations to ensure checks and balances are consistently maintained
Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions for accuracy
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, variances, and employee inquiries in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company and legal requirements
Partner with HR and Finance to support payroll-related reporting and process improvements
Utilize Dayforce for payroll processing, reporting, and system maintenance
wHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
3–4 years of hands-on payroll experience
Strong proficiency with Dayforce (Ceridian) is required
Solid understanding of payroll controls, audits, and reconciliation processes
Working knowledge of payroll compliance and labor regulations
High attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently in an on-site, fast-paced environment
