Job Description

Lloyd Staffing is partnering with a nationally respected engineering consulting firm to hire a Mechanical Engineer for their multi-disciplined Healthcare/Sciences Department. The primary responsibility is to support the project manager and senior mechanical engineers and designers in designing mechanical (HVAC) systems for various clients. The ideal candidate is fluent in design for Acute and Ambulatory Care Health Facilities and both Academic and Corporate Research Facilities.

This position can be hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in our NJ offices.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Design energy efficient HVAC system and mechanical systems per client requirements.

  • Conduct load calculations analysis and energy modeling using programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.

  • Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget.

  • Using Revit, perform design, layout, and checking of mechanical and HVAC drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes.

  • Coordinate with facility owners and architects regularly; ensuring the highest levels of responsiveness and communication.

  • Conduct shop drawing reviews and construction administration.

  • Provide direction to less experienced Engineers in Training when working together with them on projects.

  • Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings and provide field construction support, as required.

  • Implement training development, in conjunction with Project Engineer, other engineers, designers and draftspersons as assigned to your projects.

  • Assist the PM/Project Engineer in proposal development, client management and overall project execution.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements; specifically, NFPA and Joint Meeting
  • Must have experience/working knowledge of load analysis and energy modeling programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.
  • Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad, Revit experience is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
  • Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
  • Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent “in-person” communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience, with proven progression, in the detailed design of Mechanic/HVAC design for critical care and/or laboratory facilities.
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred but at a minimum, should be working towards licensure.
