Chargeback Associate

Position Summary
This role owns the research and recovery of customer deductions and compliance charges taken by our retail partners. The person in this seat works shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales, Logistics, and the DC to validate what's legitimate, fight what isn't, fix what caused it, and keep the receivable clean. Well suited to someone who likes investigative work and enjoys chasing a claim until it's resolved.
What You'll Do
- Dig into shortage and pricing deductions, pull together the paper trail (delivery confirmations, freight documents, invoices, packing lists, shipment notices), and build disputes on invalid charges through to recovery.
- Read customer routing requirements and vendor manuals to confirm shipments will meet retailer standards before they leave the building.
- Trace compliance charges back to their source and work with Sales, Logistics, and the warehouse to fix the process so it doesn't repeat.
- Own the chargeback log — open disputes, recovery status, aging.
- Flag pricing discrepancies to Sales and stay on them until they're closed out.
- Pull claim backup and deduction detail from customer portals and vendor sites, or request copies directly from the account.
- Support daily cash receipts, making sure payments and deductions post correctly.
What You Need
- Hands-on background in cash application and deduction or chargeback work.
- Solid Excel — formulas, lookups, pivots.
- Experience chasing delivery confirmation and shipment paperwork from carriers.
- Clear communicator, written and verbal.
- Organized and detail-driven; comfortable juggling priorities against deadlines.
- Works well across departments.
Nice to Have
- Apparel, footwear, accessories, or consumer goods wholesale background.
- Familiarity with electronic transaction sets and retailer compliance programs.
- Experience navigating major retailer vendor portals.
- Working knowledge of an ERP or AR platform.
