Job Description
Position Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of their growing distribution business. This key leadership role will oversee a team of 7+ accounting professionals, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will play a critical role in financial planning, strategic decision-making, and operational efficiency. This is an in-office position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the accounting team to maintain accuracy in financial reporting and improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring precise tracking and reporting, particularly within the AS400 system.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support strategic business decisions.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial requirements.
- Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop financial strategies that support business growth.
- Oversee tax reporting, audits, and external financial relationships, ensuring smooth financial operations.
- Continuously improve financial processes, reporting, and efficiency
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- CPA preferred (Certified Public Accountant).
- 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in inventory accounting and AS400 system is required.
- Experience in distribution, supply chain, or wholesale industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
