Billing Specialist
Job Description
- Billing and Coding:
- Accurately code and submit claims for orthotic and prosthetic services.
- Utilize appropriate billing codes and modifiers to maximize reimbursement.
- Stay updated on coding changes, insurance policies, and reimbursement rates.
- Claim Submission and Follow-up:
- Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper as required.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denials promptly and efficiently.
- Verification and Authorization:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for orthotic and prosthetic services.
- Obtain necessary pre-authorizations and ensure documentation meets insurance requirements.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Review patient records to ensure accurate documentation supporting billed services.
- Ensure compliance with billing regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant guidelines.
- Communication:
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to address billing inquiries and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with the orthotic and prosthetic team to gather necessary information for billing purposes.
- Reporting:
- Generate and analyze reports related to billing, reimbursement, and accounts receivable.
- Provide regular updates on the status of outstanding claims and reimbursement trends.
- Credentialing:
- Assist in the credentialing process for orthotic and prosthetic services with various insurance providers.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as an Orthotic Prosthetic Biller.
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
- Familiarity with billing software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Strong understanding of insurance policies and reimbursement procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Remote work experience is a plus.
