Billing Specialist
Job Description
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for orthotics and prosthetics services.
- Confirm and update patient information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Claims Submission:
- Prepare and submit insurance claims for orthotics and prosthetics services.
- Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with insurance guidelines.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner to facilitate prompt reimbursement.
- Billing and Coding:
- Assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to ensure proper billing and reimbursement.
- Stay informed about changes in coding guidelines and regulations related to orthotics and prosthetics.
- Reimbursement Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze reimbursement trends to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to address and resolve any billing-related challenges.
- Denials Management:
- Investigate and appeal denied claims to maximize reimbursement.
- Implement strategies to reduce the frequency of claim denials.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers, patients, and internal team members.
- Provide clear and detailed explanations to patients regarding their insurance coverage and billing inquiries.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all billing and insurance-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, specifically in orthotics and prosthetics.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance verification, claims submission, and reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) for orthotics and prosthetics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve billing issues and denials.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
- Experience with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
